Abstract

The addition of Cu on the structural, optical, and magnetic properties of MgFe2O4 prepared by a ceramic technique has been investigated. The Me-O and Me-Me bond lengths increase with the addition of Cu. IR spectra show bands at 540 and 460 cm−1, which confirm Fe3+ ions in both tetrahedral and octahedral sites. Room temperature Mössbauer spectra of MgFe2O4 compounds in zero applied magnetic field show the general trend of increasing hyperfine value and A-B exchange interaction caused by Mg2+ ion with Fe3+ ions. The addition of copper increases the isomer shift and quadruple splitting of the doublet.
