Abstract

Three new supramolecular complexes, [Zn(FcCH2SCH2COO)2 (H2O)2] (1), [Cd(FcCH2SCH2COO)2(H2O)2] (2), and [Co(FcCH2 SCH2COO)2(H2O)2] (3) were synthesized by the reaction of FcCH2SCH2COOH with Zn(NO3)2·6H2O, Cd(NO3)2·6H2O or Co(OAc)2·4H2O, respectively. These compounds are characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, and IR spectrum. All these complexes are mononuclear structures, and furthermore, hydrogen-bonding and π···π stacking interactions link the mononuclears to generate two-dimensional supramolecules. Differential pulse voltammograms of the ligand and the three complexes indicated that all these compounds show three peaks at different potentials, two of which can be assigned to the electron-transfer process of the ferrocenyl moieties and the third may be related to the S atom in them.
