Abstract
Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Fe(II), and Zn(II) complexes of N-nicotinoyl-N′-2-thiophenethiocarbohydrazide (H2 NTTH) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility measurements, infrared, NMR, electronic, and ESR spectral studies. The complexes were found to have compositions [Mn(H NTTH)2 (H2O)2], [Co(NTTH) (H2O)2], [Ni(NTTH) (H2O)2], [Cu(NTTH)].H2O, [Cu(H2 NTTH) Cl2], [Zn(NTTH)].H2O and [Zn(H2 NTTH) Cl2], and [Fe(H NTTH)2]. The ligand N-nicotinoyl-N′-2-thiophenethiocarbohydrazide (H2 NTTH) and its metal complexes have been screened against several bacteria and fungi.
