Abstract

The hydrothermal reaction of Cu(II) salt with 1-aminoethylidenediphosphonic acid (H4aedp) leads to one novel metal phosphonate, namely Cu(aedp) (1). The molecular structure has been elucidated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, revealing that 1 exhibits a wavy layer architecture built from {CuO5} pentahedrons interconnected by phosphonate groups. The complex has been characterized by IR spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Magnetic data analyses indicate the substantial antiferromagnetic coupling interactions between the magnetic centers.
