Abstract

An unusal square pyramid Mn(III) complex, [Mn(L) (H2L)]PF6, where L = (5,5′-Dimethoxy-2,2′-(propane-1,2-diylbis (nitrilomethylidyne))diphenolato), has been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex is crystallized in monoclinic with space group P21/n. The Mn atom is coordinated with L Schiff base as N2O2 tetradentate ligand in the equatorial position and H2L as O monodentate in axial position. The electronic and vibrational spectra, and TG-DTG of the complex were also studied. The cyclic voltamograms exhibit irreversible responses assignable to Mn(III)/Mn(II) and Mn(II)/Mn(III). The Mn(III) complex was applied as a precursor for synthesis of Mn-doped ZnO nanoparticles.
