Abstract

Prussian blue (PB) has been developed as a new, mild, and eco-friendly catalyst for the nitration of aromatic compounds. Reactions underwent electrophilic substitution smoothly in presence of few drops of nitric acid. Reaction times of conventional methods were enormously reduced from 6–8 h to about 1–1.5 h in ultrasonically assisted and to about 3 min in microwave-assisted reactions.
