Abstract

Schiff bases obtained from 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde with cyclopropylamine, and 4-methoxysalicylaldehyde with cyclopentylamine, were used as ligands for Zn(II) resulting in two mononuclear zinc complexes, [Zn(SalPr)2] and [ZnI2(SalPt)2], where SalPr is 4-chloro-2-(cyclopropyliminomethyl)phenolate and SalPt is 2-(cyclopentyliminiummethyl)-5-methoxyphenolate. The detailed structures of the complexes were determined by single crystal X-ray crystallography. Coordination sphere of Zn(II) atoms in both complexes are slightly distorted tetrahedron. The cytotoxic property of the complexes was evaluated.
