Abstract
A monotelechelic polydimethylsiloxane with a diol-end group, α-butyl-ω-{3-[2-hydroxy-3-(N-methyl-N-hydroxyethylamino) pr- opoxy]propyl}polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS-OH), was synthesized and reacted with acrylic acid to obtain a vinyl group containing polydimethyl siloxane (PDMS-V). Also acrylic acid was reacted with propylene oxide for obtaining oxypropylated acrylate ester (OPAE). Then, a novel nonionic copolymeric surfactant was prepared by copolymerization of PDMS-V and OPAE in the presence of benzoyl peroxide as initiator. The structure of the products were analyzed and confirmed by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR spectroscopies.
