Abstract
A new coordination polymer, [Co2(dps)2(CH3O-ip)2]n (1) (CH3O-H2ip = 5-methoxyisophthalate) has been solvothermally synthesized by in situ generation of 4,4′-dipyridylsulfide (dps) ligand from a 4,4′-dipyridyldisulfide (dpds) precursor, which was characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. X-ray diffraction reveals that the complex 1 crystallizes in the triclinic system, space group P-1, a = 10.054(7) Å, b = 10.536(7) Å, c = 18.490(12) Å, V = 1847(2) Å3, Mr = 882.62, ρc = 1.587 g/cm3, and Z = 2. The complex presents a two dimensional (2D) structure based on two different binuclear Co(II) clusters. In addition, the thermal stability of 1 has also been investigated.
