Abstract
Nano-sized samerium oxide (Sm2O3) was synthesized successfully by the thermal decomposition of samarium nitrate in the presence of polyethylene glycol (PEG 2000). Synthesized nanoparticles of Sm2O3 were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The powder XRD pattern established the formation of body-centered cubic structure for Sm2O3. Sample possess spherical nano-sized particle with the average crystallite size ∼50 nm.
