Abstract
Spherical Mg-doped Li(Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3)1–xMgxO2 (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.05) cathode materials were successfully synthesized by co-precipitation method. The influences of Mg-doped on the crystal structure and electrochemical performance were investigated. The results showed that all the samples exhibited α-NaFeO2 structure as indicated by the XRD patterns. The undoped materials exhibited the initial discharge capacity of 170.8 mAh/g with capacity loss of 11.8% after 30 cycles. With the increase of the doped amount, the initial discharge capacity decreased to some extent, while the cyclic performances were improved obviously. When x was set to 0.015, the materials showed the best capacity retention, 93.2% after 30 cycles.
