Abstract
In this work, carbonation reaction of a nano CaO sorbent derived from synthesized CaCO3 was investigated. Calcium carbonate was synthesized by the reaction of calcium nitrate and sodium bicarbonate. An ultrasonic device was used to produce fine grains of CaCO3. The sorbent was characterized by SEM, XRD, and nitrogen adsorption. The reaction of various CaO sorbents with CO2 was investigated in a thermogravimeter. The nano synthesized CaO sorbent showed an improved initial reaction rate for capturing CO2 with respect to other usual sorbents.
