Syntheses, Characterization, and X-Ray Crystal Structures of Two New Crystals MgCl2·2H2O·2C2H4(OH)2 and MgCl2·6H2O·C2H4(OH)2

Abstract

Two new crystals MgCl2·2H2O·2C2H4(OH)2 (1) and MgCl2·6H2O·C2H4(OH)2 (2) assembled by MgCl2·6H2O and C2H4(OH)2 have been synthesized. Structures of 1 and 2 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses and elemental analyses, IR, Raman spectra, powder X-ray diffraction and TGA. The complex 1 is triclinic, space group P1 with a = 5.697(4) Å, b = 7.404(5) Å, c = 7.528(5) Å, β = 70.426(11)°, V = 268.3(3) Å3. Complex 2 is monoclinic, space group C2/c with a = 12.175(9) Å, b = 7.077(5) Å, c = 14.781(10) Å, β = 103.880(12)°, V = 1236.4(15) Å3.
