Abstract

A new coordination polymer, {[Co(Phen)(HCOO)(H2O)Cl]·H2O]}n (1) (Phen = 1, 10-Phenanthroline), has been prepared by hydrothermal method and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 is orthorhombic, space group Pna21 with a = 19.0607(3) Å, b = 11.0557(2) Å, c = 6.5475(1) Å, V = 1379.75(4) Å3, Z = 4, Mr = 355.63, Dc = 1.712 g/cm3, F(000) = 724 and μ = 1.454 mm−1. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the title complex 1 displays a one-dimensional chain structure. Furthermore, the thermal stability and fluorescent properties of complex 1 were investigated.
