Abstract

An iron(II) complex with nitronyl nitroxides, [FeII(NIT4Py)2(N(CN)2)2(H2O)2] (NIT4Py = 2-(4′-pyridyl)- 4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl 3-oxide), was synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, elemental analyses, and IR spectrum. X-ray analysis reveals that the center Fe(II) ion is six-coordinated with a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. The adjacent monomeric entities are linked by hydrogen bonds to generate a 3D structure.
