ABSTRACT
This work describes the synthesis and characterization of two new ruthenium(II) complexes with 8-diphenylphosphinoquinoline (N-P). The complexes [Ru(N-P)(DMSO)2Cl2] (1), where DMSO = dimethyl sulfoxide, and [Ru(N-P)2Cl2] (2) were characterized by FT-IR, UV-Vis spectrometer, and X-ray crystallography. Single-crystal X-ray structures of (1) and (2), which crystallize in the triclinic space group P-1 and orthorhombic space group Pbca, respectively, have been determined. The X-ray structural analyses of both complexes indicate that the geometries around the Ru center are distorted octahedral. Bond length analysis indicates a trans influence in the order: P > N > S > Cl.
