Synthesis, Properties and Characterization of Some Mixed Ligand Complexes of Tin(IV). 1. Alkylxanthato(chloro)bis(β-diketonato)tin(IV)

Abstract

A few mixed ligand complexes of the type XX'Snl₂ (where X = Cl, X' = S₂ COCH₃, S₂COC₃H₇-i, S₂COC₄H₉-n, HL = acetylacetone, benzoylacetone and dibenzoylmethane) have been prepared by the reaction of dichlorobis (β-diketonato)tin(IV) with sodium alkylxanthate in acetone under refluxing conditions. The new compounds, characterized by elemental analyses, molecular weight measurements, IR and NMR (¹H, ¹³C, ¹¹⁹Sn) spectral studies, depict a distorted octahedral coordination around tin(IV).
