Abstract
The reactions of ruthenium(III) and rhodium(III) chloride with neutral chalcone semicarbazones (CSc), 2-hydroxychalcone semicarbazones (CSc′H), 2′-hydroxychalcone semicarbazone (SCSc″H) and 2,2′-dihydroxychalcone semicarba-zone (DCSc″H2) have been studied in absolute ethanol and complexes of type [M(CSc)3]Cl3, [M(CSc′)3], [M(SCSc″)3] and [M(DCSC″)2] have been isolated, and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, electrical conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements and spectral (electronic and infrared) data. The probable structures of the complexes are suggested.
