Abstract
Some new mixed-ligand complexes of cobalt(III) with imides and 14-membered tetraaza macrocycles have been synthesized. The complexes have the composition trans-[Co(im)2.L]clO4, where im = anion of succinimide (sim) or phthalimide (pim) and L = 5,12-dimethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradeca-4,11-diene (L1), 5,7,12,14-tetramethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradeca-4,11-diene (L2) or 5,7,7,12,14,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraa-zacyclotetradeoa-4,11-diene (L3). The complexes were characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, conductometric, magnetic, infrared, and electronic spectral studies. The present complexes are low-spin species with a trans configuration.
