Studies on Some Novel Mixed-Ligand Oxovanadium(IV) Complexes Involving Acetylacetone and Nitrogen or Oxygen Donor Organic Compounds

Abstract

A series of novel hexa-coordinated mixed-ligand complexes of oxovanadium(IV) of the general formula [VO(acac)₂(L)], where acacH-acetylacetone and L = MPHP, DMMASPHP, ADMPHP, CODPHS, 2, 6-XYL, 2-HMP, 3-HMP or 4-HMP has been synthesized. The complexes have been obtained by refluxing the parent compound [VO(acac)₂] with the corresponding ligand, L, in alcohol. The complexes, are thermally stable and behave as non-electrolytes. A distorted trans-octahedral structure has been proposed for these complexes.
