From the Editor

, Ph.D. (Editor)

This issue, 10(1), is my first as newly appointed Editor of the Journal of LGBT Issues in Counseling. Truth be told, there were several individuals involved in putting this issue together, whom will be acknowledged following this brief introduction.

I am incredibly honored and humbled to serve the Association for LGBT Issues in Counseling (ALGBTIC), a division of the American Counseling Association, in this capacity. One of my goals over the next three years is to increase visibility of the Journal, which will help meet a second goal of increasing the number of submission and rejection rates. My vision is to continue the work of Dr. Ned Farley by producing a high-quality and relevant journal!

I am ever so grateful to Dr. Ned Farley, founding Editor of the Journal, for his guidance and mentorship through this transition period. I also want to acknowledge Jordan Hazzard, former editorial assistant to Dr. Farley, for all of his behind-the-scenes work and sharing of knowledge and experience. Carol Burns-Wortham, a doctoral student at Oakland University, will be serving as the new editorial assistant. Our hope is that this transition process is as seamless as possible so that the Journal will be produced with minimal to no delays and/or obstacles.

In this issue, we include four articles that explore unique LGBTQ issues that have been underrepresented in counseling literature. The first article examines ways counselor educators may enhance relationships between school counselors-in-training and principals to more effectively address LGBTQ issues in K-12 settings. In a qualitative study, the researchers of the next article investigated the experiences of female-to-male transsexuals. The third article reviews current literature related to disclosure of sexual orientation in the workplace and utilizes a case vignette to illustrate how helping professionals might work with clients negotiating this issue. The authors of the last article present a literature review of the intersection of sexual identity and social class with clinical and training implications. After reading the articles, do not forget that you can complete the Continuing Education questions at the end of this issue in order to earn CEs.
