It is hard to believe that the Journal of LGBT Issues in Counseling is already producing volume 13(1). Since its inception, the journal has grown tremendously. Due to the increase in submission rates of strong manuscripts, we now have manuscripts to fill future issues, which may cause an increase in the numbers of days from when a manuscript in accepted to actual publication date. Related to this, many of you may have noticed that there had been major production delays associated with volume 12(3) and 12(4). The delays were due to issues at Taylor and Francis. On November 1, 2018, Taylor and Francis’ Global Production Director Stewart Gardiner sent a letter essentially announcing that they decreased the number of prepress suppliers to work on publishing the journals, which caused them to be unable to keep up with the production workload; hence, the delays. According to Gardiner, both issues should be out by the end of the year. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, but it was out of my control.

We are excited about the articles included in 13(1). The first article, written by Jared S. Rose and colleagues is a document endorsed by the Association for LGBT Issues in Counseling (ALGBTIC) and describes best practices to address conscience clause legislation in counselor education and supervision. The second article by Dorn-Medeiros is a conceptual piece that introduces a supervision rubric for assessing professional counseling dispositions. In the third article, Lex Pulice-Farrow and colleagues use thematic analysis to examine microaffirmations in romantic relationships of transgender individuals. In the final empirical article included in this issue, Kim Lee Hughes, explores how queer women of color establish friendship connections in higher education.

My hope is that these articles expand your competence to work with LGBTQ + clients and students. Do not forget that you may complete the Continuing Education (CE) questions at the end of this issue to receive CE credit.
