From the Editor

Welcome to the third issue of volume 14 of the Journal of LGBT Issues in Counseling. We have been especially busy working to create a high-quality issue for you. In addition to processing manuscripts for regular issues of the journal, we also are currently working with the guest coeditors of the special issue that will focus on advocacy and social justice for LGBTGEQIAP + individuals. The special issue has an expected publication month of November 2020. Meantime, the articles included in this issue are rich and add valuable contributions to the counseling profession and LGBTQ + issues.

Included in this issue are two conceptual articles and four empirical articles. The first article, a conceptual piece, combines affirmative counseling practices and a wellness model so that counselors can competently work with queer adolescents. The second article, presents a theoretical perspective, the Socio-Multidimensional Sexual and Gender Minority Oppression framework for counselors who work with queer clients who have experience oppression and also struggle with substance use disorders. The third article, a phenomenological study, explored the academic and career experiences of intersex adults. Using narrative and photovoice qualitative methods, the fourth article examined the process of self-acceptance among a small sample of transgender individuals. The authors of the fifth article used content analyses to explore counseling recruitment issues associated with transgender clients. The last article in this issue is especially timely and highlights the lived experiences of a sample of Black, transgender men.

We hope you find the articles in this issue engaging and informative. After reading the articles, do not forget that you can complete the Continuing Education questions at the end of this issue in order to earn CEs.
