Gene-manipulated Desulfurizing Strain Pseudomonas Putida Reduced Energy Consuming in the Biodesulfurization Process

Abstract

In this study, dszA,B,C genes from Rhodococcus erythropolis IGTS8 were inserted stably into the chromosome of a new indigenous bacteria (Pseudomonas putida) isolated from Iranian soil to reduce energy consuming in the biodesulfurization process. The results demonstrated that the biodesulfurization activity of recombinant P. putida is higher than that of R. erythropolis IGTS8 in the primary hours and the biodesulfurization activity of R. erythropolis increased after a long time. The engineered P. putida can be promoted to a candidate for reduction of energy consuming in the biodesulfurization process because this recombinant biocatalyst removed the highest amount of dibenzothiophen in the shortest time and is a solvent tolerant bacterium with the ability of efflux of the organic solvent, which is able to supply energy for biodesulfurization reaction.
