Abstract
In order to achieve a higher ethanol fermentation capacity, many ethanol fermentation experiments were carried out. The immobilized multi-microorganisms (S. cerevisiae and P. tannophilus) were employed for the ethanol production from hydrolyzates. The suitable Ca-alginate immobilized cells particles for ethanol fermentation was observed at a CaCl2 concentration of 3% and particles diameter of 5.3. The proper carrier material for cell immobilization was the sodium alginate-chitosan. The optimum fermentation conditions at 30°C and 150 rpm for 24 h in a shaking flask were as follows: pH 5.0, reducing sugar 82 g/L, the S. cerevisiae and P. tannophilus proportion for 1:1. The final ethanol concentration was 20.04 g/L.
