The group-wise assignments of ¹H spectra of various hydrocarbon samples from the compiled literature data can have the chemical shift ranges as: aromatic protons (6.5–9 δ), ∂ methyls, alkyl substituents to aromatic rings (2–4 δ), βCH/CH₂ groups to aromatic rings, CH/CH₂ in naphthenes, normal and iso-paraffinic type side chain (1–2 δ), terminal CH₃ in long chains to aromatic rings, and branching in side chain paraffins (0.5–1 δ).
