Abstract
Photogalvanic effect was studied in a photogalvanic cell containing Acid Fuchsin as the photosensitizer in a Benzethonium Chloride–EDTA system. A sintered filter was used in H-cell between illuminated and dark chambers. In an Acid Fuchsin Benzethonium Chloride–EDTA system, the photopotential and photocurrent were observed to be 725.0 mV and 110.0 μA, respectively. The conversion efficiency of the system was observed to be 0.4476% and fill factor was determined as 0.38. The cell performance was observed as 55.0 minutes in the dark. The effects of different parameters on the electrical output of the cell were observed and current-voltage characteristics of the cell were also studied. The mechanism was proposed for the generation of photocurrent in the photogalvanic cell.
