Abstract

The main goal of this article is to reveal the regional situation of energy indicators in Turkey by using the method of multiple variable data analysis. In this analysis demographic, economic, and energy indicators are used as variables. The objective of this article, using the existing administrative structure of Turkey, the selected social and economical indicators which reflect the country's development, and the indicators reflecting the energy structures of the country's 81 provinces, is to reveal the energy structure of Turkey. This is done by revealing the relations between the energy structures of the provinces, defining the similar province groups based on energy production and consumption, differentiating the provinces from each other, and listing the provinces with respect to their usage of energy. In this article multi-variable categorical data analyses and cluster-analysis methods have been used. Results of this analysis show that the Turkish government's most important goal in the future should be to focus on regional energy policies.
