The perspectives of applying ethanol as an alternate fuel

Pages 749-758 | Published online: 30 May 2017

ABSTRACT

The ecological problems caused by traffic are some of the greatest pollution problems in urban environments, making the trend of researching replenishable energy sources more widespread. Ethanol – a liquid fuel gained via agricultural means – is a replenishable energy source. This fuel can completely replace fossil fuel in internal combustion engines. This work will present the main properties of ethanol, the world trend in ethanol production, as well as the possibility of the manufacture and application of ethanol fuel in Serbia.

Notes

1 Džibra – the rest in agricultural distilleries with multiple purposes.

2 The legal basis for the production and application of bioethanol is regulated only conceptually in Serbia via the Law for energetics. Conceptual support is given to using replenishable energy sources without a single concrete measure, or regulation, or any other legal act, which would positively influence bioethanol production in Serbia.
