An Editor’s Goodbye

After 12 years as founding editor and editor-in-chief of Energy Sources Part B: Economics, Planning, and Policy it is time to say “goodbye”. As of 1 January 2018, I will be handing the editor’s duties over to my replacement. Choosing to relinquish this role after such a long time is an emotional experience.

Looking back over my time as editor which began on January 1, 2006, the publication team has tried with some notable successes to increase the involvement in the journal of Latin America, Asia, and latterly, the Middle East. The journal has been able to focus attention on the rise of polices and the accompanying financial issues related to energy production in countries such as Turkey, Malaysia, Iran, China, and India with submissions from other countries increasing over the past five years. May this trend continue and result in expansion of the number of issues of the jounral published in any future year.

My thanks go to all the Taylor & Francis staff who have helped me during my time as editor-in-chief and the members of the editorial board who have supported the jounral and solicited papers from their colleagues far and wide. Thanks also go to the managing editor, the authors, the copy editors, and the production editors who are the “unsung heroes” of scientific and engineering journals.

I would be remiss if I did not mention the reviewers for the seemingly thankless work that they do. Without their commitment to peer review, we could not function.
