Abstract

Exposure to benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX) and styrene have been reported in tire manufacturing. This research was designed to evaluate the exposure to BTEX and styrene and their health risks in tire manufacturing in Iran. The health risk estimation was done by the United States Environment Protection Agency (USEPA) method using the Monte-Carlo simulation. Results showed that the concentration of benzene in some units, such as cement making; cement spraying, and tire building was more than the standard level. The units of cement spraying and calendaring had the highest and lowest cancer and no-cancer risks, respectively.
