Updates from the Editor-In-Chief

As the International Journal of Construction Education and Research’s incoming Editor-in-Chief, I am pleased to write a brief note to our readership and provide updates about the Editorial Board.

I would like to start by thanking our outgoing Editor-in-Chief, Dr Clifton Farnsworth for his longtime service to our Journal and the Associated Schools of Construction community, which will not end with the end of his tenure on our Editorial Board. He will continue to help me with transitions and serve the Journal as a reviewer and an author, as well as remain a valued and contributing member of our academic community. I also would like to thank Dr Ben Bigelow for his service as one of our three Associate Editors for nine years. The standard term for this position is three years; and Dr Bigelow was convinced by two different Editors-in-Chief to continue in his role due to his dedication.

I would like to welcome Dr Caroline Clevenger as our new Managing Editor. This is a critical role concerned with managing the integrity and timeliness of the review process. I have worked with Dr Clevenger in the last three months to provide the training to facilitate her transition into this role. Dr Clevenger is a well-accomplished scholar with significant experience and success in disseminating knowledge through publications; and I know the Journal will benefit immensely from her expertise. I also would like to welcome Dr James Smith as a new Associate Editor. In addition to contributing as an author and reviewer to the journal, Dr Smith has served as an editorial board member for the past five years. He has proven himself as a valuable member of the editorial team, and we are excited to continue to benefit from his expertise and experience in this new role.

This year, we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the International Journal of Construction Education and Research (preceded for eight years by the Journal of Construction Education). Even though the International Journal of Construction Education and Research is still relatively young, all of the editorial board members, authors, and reviewers engaged with our Journal have already enabled the Journal to make significant progress and positive impact on our domain. We will continue this upward trajectory by working together as a community and will make strides to take this great Journal to the next level.

I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve as your Editor-in-Chief. In the upcoming issues, I will share my thoughts on the path forward for our Journal as well as providing further updates. Until then, I wish you a healthy and prosperous 2024.
