Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Seminal Vesicles--the First Case Report and Review of the Related Literature

, , , , &
Pages 19-22 | Published online: 16 Jul 2015

The seminal vesicles are an uncommon site of primary malignant disease. Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the seminal vesicles is presumed to be an extremely rare disease as there are no reports in the literature based on an OldMedline/Medline search back to 1958. We report the first case of SCC arising in the seminal vesicles. The patient was treated with combined external beam radiotherapy and chemotherapy comprising bolus cisplatin and infusional 5-fluorouracil and achieved an excellent palliative and radiological response to this treatment. Cancers of the seminal vesicles and SCC of the prostate are reviewed.
