A case study of interpreter-mediated witness statement: police interpreting in South Korea

Lee, J. (2016). A case study of interpreter-mediated witness statement: police interpreting in South Korea. Police Practice and Research. http://dx.doi.org/10.1080/15614263.2016.1248840

When the above article was first published online, ⑧ in Extract 5 on page 9 included ‘victim’ instead of ‘accused’ in the text ‘…that the victim herself had caused…’. This has now been corrected in both the print and online versions to:

The fact that the accused woke Alisa up to inform of the occurrence of a tragic event and was able to determine where the victim had fallen from the window of the small room of her apartment would lead to the conclusion that the accused herself had caused the victim to fall out of the window. It thus seems to conceal her crime that she reversed her previous statement and made excuses by saying that she had not looked down to the flower bed on the ground floor from the window in the balcony of her apartment.
