Abstract

This study explores the impact of leader–member exchange (LMX) on Chinese Gen Y employee’s organizational behaviours (i.e. employee empowerment, voice, job satisfaction and commitment to customer service). Gen Y hotel employees in China were selected to examine the proposed LMX model, and structural equation modelling was used to analyse the data. Results indicate that LMX and employee empowerment were positively related to employee voice; employee voice was positively related to employee job satisfaction; there was a significant relationship between employee job satisfaction and employee commitment to customer service. Implications for researchers and managers are discussed.
