ABSTRACT
The current study commenced with a primary purpose of investigating the serious leisure characteristics of older adult volunteers in an international sporting event. The subjects were systematically divided into two distinct segments pertaining to the different levels of serious leisure characteristics via hierarchical and k-means clustering technique. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to discover the correlational relationship between each segment and serious leisure qualities in terms of volunteer experience and repeat volunteering intention. Research results revealed that durable benefit is significantly correlated with older adults with higher level of serious leisure characteristics. Older adults with lower level serious leisure characteristics are essentially casual leisure volunteers significantly correlated with perseverance, identity, and personal effort qualities.
