This special issue of the World Leisure Journal will focus on exploring the diversity of innovation manifestations in leisure contexts, practices and theories. The advent of the internet and the rapid changes in technology have been shaping leisure in different manners, from individual practices or business opportunities to policy making. Spaces of leisure are now constructed and experienced in both physical and digital manners, allowing for leisure to become a favoured field of experimentation for innovative approaches.
This special issue will cover a range of topics and perspectives with contributions from authors from different areas and backgrounds. Conceptual papers, empirical research (both qualitative and quantitative), systematic reviews, and examples of evidence-based practice pertaining to leisure and innovation around the world are invited. All submissions will be peer-reviewed.
Examples of topics for this special issue include, but are not limited to, the following:
Conceptual and theoretical issues related to leisure and innovation.
The importance of innovation in leisure businesses, events, management, and education.
Contributions of innovative leisure approaches to quality of life in urban and rural areas.
Innovative developments in digital leisure and creative leisure, and impacts on quality of life.
The relationships between leisure, innovation, creativity and lifestyle.
The relationships of leisure, innovation, and the cultural and creative industries.
The role of leisure and innovation shaping policy making.
Methodological approaches to leisure and innovation.

All manuscripts must be in English and must not exceed 5000 words all inclusive. Manuscripts that exceed this limit will not be reviewed until they conform.
Manuscripts must be double spaced in 12 pt New Times Roman.
Manuscripts must adhere to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA, 6th edition).
Manuscripts should be sent as e-mail attachments in doc or docx formats.
