Independent Variable Integrity in Behavioral Research: A Review of the Literature

Abstract

Independent variable integrity has only rather recently been given serious attention in behavioral research. This paper highlights the critical importance of this methodological issue. It is argued that the integrity of independent variables is an essential criterion of whether at study demonstrates a believable functional relationship between the independent and the dependent variables.
