Viewing Critical Communication Pedagogy through a Cinematic Lens

Abstract

Courses: Instructional Communication or any course in which communication pedagogy is addressed

Objectives: First, students of instructional communication will learn about hegemony in the classroom. Second, students will analyze the pedagogical behavior of a cinematic teacher in the movie Half Nelson. Through this analysis, students will gain a heightened awareness of hegemony and will identify avenues for praxis.
