ABSTRACT:
This two-part article aims to provide the knowledge and understanding for nurses to gain the confidence necessary to provide care for patients with sepsis in a critical care environment. It includes a critical care framework which can be utilised to implement the nursing interventions and assessments which are necessary to provide holistic nursing care to these patients.

Emma Foreman DipHE CVN DipAVN (small animal) ISFM DipFN RVNEmma has been working in veterinary practice for over twenty years qualifying in 2002. She has worked at first opinion, charity, referral and emergency hospitals and gained the RCVS Advanced Diploma in 2015 and ISFM Feline Medicine Diploma in 2018. Her special interests are in anaesthesia, ECC and theatre practice. She currently works at a small animal first opinion and referral hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and is the BVNA Regional Representative for Staffordshire and Derbyshire.
