Dear Reader

Summary of my Presidential year

, President, BVNA

My Presidential year didn’t quite go with the bang I was hoping for! However, there were plenty of fireworks to navigate as I did my best to lead the BVNA through a global pandemic, Brexit, a General Election and some major reviews and reforms of the veterinary profession. You can find out more about what myself and the rest of the BVNA council have been up to in the past couple of months by reading the summary of our September council meeting.

As you may already know, a huge passion of mine is Rabbit Welfare and as such, I chose the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund to be the BVNA charity of the year. During our #ThisIsUs celebration, I interviewed Dr Richard Saunders who is the RWAF vet advisor and he gave us some great insight into this great charity.

Don’t forget, all our articles can count towards your CPD targets – especially if you take further action such as calling a team meeting to discuss what you have learnt, conduct a clinical audit of your current protocols, and researching the topics further with reflection on how you plan to use your new found knowledge.Don’t forget, all our articles can count towards your CPD targets – especially if you take further action such as calling a team meeting to discuss what you have learnt, conduct a clinical audit of your current protocols, and researching the topics further with reflection on how you plan to use your new found knowledge.

Finally, I would like to thank you all for your tremendous hard work this year. It’s been a tough one on us all - we are mentally and physically exhausted yet continue to strive to provide the best outcomes possible for our patients and colleagues. We have shown the true spirit of #whatVNsdo, going above and beyond our job roles and we should all be proud of our individual achievements. But be sure to also take some time out for yourself as self-care is so very important. So put your feet up, grab a cuppa and have a read.
