Abstract

2-Mercaptoquinoline substituted 1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidinones have been efficiently synthesized in high yields in a short reaction time using TiCl3 as catalyst, in THF solvent. The mechanism is proposed based on the presence of Lewis acid catalyst in Biginelli condensation.
