Abstract

In the present study, isoquinoline sulfonic acid thiocyanate (isoquinoline-SO3H)SCN and isoquinoline sulfonic acid chloride (isoquinoline-SO3H)Cl as a novel and heterogeneous catalyst were designed and synthesized by a simple and inexpensive procedure. The prepared heterogeneous catalyst was characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR techniques. Then, the catalytic activity of (isoquinoline-SO3H)SCN and (isoquinoline-SO3H)Cl were successfully investigated for the synthesis of aryl and heteroaryl thiocyanates derivatives through a one-pot reaction. Moreover, the use of (isoquinoline-SO3H)SCN provides a quite simple and more convenient procedure, due to it has both acidic group and thiocyanation agent in reaction. The present procedure offers advantages such as the usage of a commercially available materials, cheap and chemically stabile reagents, short reaction time, excellent yield, ease of separation by simple filtration, and simple reaction work-up.
