Retraction: Anatomy of a Woebot® (WB001): Agent Guided CBT for women with postpartum depression

We, the Editor and Publisher of Expert Review of Medical Devices have retracted the following article:

Alison Darcy, Aaron Beaudette, Emil Chiauzzi, Jade Daniels, Kim Goodwin, Timothy Y. Mariano, Paul Wicks and Athena Robinson. Anatomy of a Woebot® (WB001): Agent Guided CBT for women with postpartum depression, Expert Review of Medical Devices, 2022;19(04):287-301, DOI: 10.1080/17434440.2022.2075726

After publication of this article, the authors brought to our attention that there were corrections needed to the references cited, due to errors in reference numbering between different versions of the article drafts. In addition, a separate issue arose with the description of some preliminary adolescent depression data. It transpired that 22 unauthorized duplicate users were randomized in a decentralized trial. Upon noting this error, these duplicate users were excluded and the analyses re-performed, which changed the details but not the direction or significance of one set of reported results. In order to correct the scientific record we have issued a “retraction and republication” to correct these honest errors, which fell outside the boundaries of a simple correction. The preliminary data was first published in this article and was not previously, and has not subsequently been, published in any other peer-reviewed article.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our policy on publishing ethics and integrity and the COPE guidelines on retractions.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as “Retracted”.
