This article refers to:
Afro-Latin Carnival and the Carnivalesque in the African American Novel

Armstrong, P. (2012) ‘Afro-Latin Carnival and the Carnivalesque in the African American Novel’, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, vol. 7, no. 3, pp. 295–320.

The above article was first published with several errors.

On page 298 the reference to Burke (2009) should be a reference to Burke (1978).

On page 300 the English translation of entrudo is missing. Following “entrudo” please insert “(i.e. Shrovetide – the Sunday, Monday and Tuesday preceding Lent – and, as with carnival, the associated surrounding festivities)”.

On page 301 the English translation of luso-tropical is missing. It means ‘referring to the cultural milieu of the Portuguese colonies’.

On page 307 the citation for Another Country should read “(Baldwin, 1962)”. The corresponding reference is already present in the reference list.

On page 311 “Euro-, Afro-, Ibero-, Euro-Amerindian” should be replaced with “European, African and Amerindian”.

On page 313 the block quote should be attributed to “Walcott, 1970” to match the reference already present in the reference list.

On page 316 citations to Ho (2000) and Burton (1997) do not have corresponding entries in the reference list. The full references are as follows:

Ho, C. G. T. (2000) ‘Popular culture and the aesthetization of politics: hegemonic struggle and postcolonial nationalism in Trinidad carnival’, Transforming Anthropology, vol. 9, no. 1, pp. 3–18.

Burton, R. (1997) Afro-Creole: Power, Opposition, and Play in the Caribbean, Cornell University Press, Ithaca, NY.

On page 317 the reference to Cohen (1982) does not have a corresponding citation and should be removed from the list of references.

On page 319 the Urry reference should be to “The Tourist Gaze: Leisure and Travel in Contemporary Societies. 2nd ed.”, not just “2nd”.

Taylor & Francis apologises for these errors.
