Reading Impunity in Aftermaths of State Violence: Book Colloquium on Jaspreet Singh's Helium

Gendered impunity: Complicity and the body as archive in Helium

Pages 319-324 | Published online: 10 Nov 2022

ABSTRACT

In this short essay I read Jaspreet Singh's Helium through Julietta Singh's concept of the body as archive. It is a book about impunity and failed responsibility, but this is deeply gendered. It is the women in the novel who carry trauma in their bodies.
