Yes-colonialism: The European dream

Pages 419-420 | Published online: 15 May 2023

Author’s note

Yes-colonialism is the contemporary ideology of colonialism whereby citizens from previously colonized countries, especially of Black African descent, voluntarily pursue recolonization via illegal mass exodus. These individuals use numerous tactics to escape their fatherland to gain access to that of the colonizer (for example, Belgium, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Portugal). Unlike slave trade, when Africans in chains were forcibly transported to Europe by sea, today some Africans are ready to die in the wild sea or on a cruel desert trek once they aim to be recolonized, regardless of risk; they fabricate lies to their new host country (Europe or America) in order to gain refugee status and citizenship.
