Thematic Issue No. 6, Marine Biology Research 9(5–6), 2013
Overleaf: Commensal polynoid polychaete Harmothoe bathydomus Ditlevsen, 1917 (shown by arrow, enlarged) on the posterior end of the holothurian Peniagone coccinea sp. nov. Both specimens were identified by contributors to the present issue. The holothurian was collected with the suction-sampler using the ROV Isis on the RRS James Cook Cruise 048 (in 2010) at St. JC048/54 Dive 179. The specimen was intact and was photographed by David Shale (www.deepseaimages.co.uk) on board RRS James Cook in a tank in the temperature-controlled room shortly after recovery. It appeared to be a species new to science (for details see Rogacheva et al. 2013, this issue). Association of polynoid polychaetes and deep-sea holothurians is described and discussed in the present issue by Shields et al. (2013).
