This book is part of the Fauna Ibérica series and deals with some Polychaeta from the coasts of the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. The general section includes summaries on the phylogeny, classification, history, zoogeography, morphology, biology and ecology of polychaete worms as well as methods of material collection, preservation and storage. This first part is followed by a family key and detailed taxonomic reviews of the families Phyllodocidae, Hesionidae, Pilargidae, Nereididae, Nephtyidae, Paralacydoniidae, Chrysopetalidae and Pisionidae. Extensively illustrated with partly original line drawings and some SEM photographs, this section provides taxonomic keys to the different genera and the 129 cited species, which are all described by their most important morphological characters, geographic distribution and aspects of biology. The book contains a lengthy bibliography with minor slip-ups and is concluded with a list of synonyms and an index.

This monograph will be a valuable resource to specialists and ecologists working on the Iberian fauna and the fauna of adjacent regions. However, the Spanish language limits the potential users of the book.
