Wood is a widely available natural resource, especially within Nordic European countries. It is characterised as an efficient structural material with outstanding visual appearance. Wood and wooden products can be found in diverse applications, including load bearing elements, finishes, claddings as well as thermal isolation and acoustic insulations.

This special issue contributes to the further development of wood construction. It includes topics about hybrid construction, aspects related to mid-rise and taller timber buildings and much more. The special issue is associated with the Forum Wood Building Nordic 2022, hosted in Helsinki, Finland 28-30 September 2022. Forum Wood Building Nordic 2022 is the eleventh Nordic conference and is part of the Forum-Holzbau society run by Bern University of Applied Sciences (CH), Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences (GER), Technical University of Munich (GER), Vienna University of Technology (AUT), Aalto University (FI), and University of Northern British Columbia (CAN).

The organizers of the Forum Wood Building Nordic 2022 want to thank all the authors for their contributions. We also want to acknowledge the scientific committee members for selecting appropriate contributions, the reviewers for ensuring scientific quality and the Editor-in-Chief, Professor Dick Sandberg, for his valuable support.
